Happiness is Fall! Yippee!!

I can't believe it's finally here. Although it's still super warm outside, I do feel the cool creeping in--especially the early mornings. That's when I open the windows & enjoy some cozy socks.

Last night I went on a tour of my city trying to track down some canned pumpkin. I was determined to bake some pumpkin bread & have it ready for the girls' teachers. FOUR grocery stores later I finally found the stupid canned pumpkin.
One of the grocer people at store #3 said I was about the 4th person that asked him for canned pumpkin. He thought it was strange. He said, "I can see people wanting it a MONTH from now..." Hmm. There are silly little velour Christmas baby outfits & cinnamon pinecones displayed in the store & you think it's weird that I want canned pumpkin NOW?
And don't even get me started on the mindgames I was having with the pimply faced boys working at store #2.
Anyway, store #4 had my treasure & I seriously sighed a heavy, "Thank you Jeeeesuuuuusssss!" as I skipped down the aisle to graby my booty. I got home & the girls helped me bake up the bread. The house was full of yummy smells. I can't wait to play the part of Autumn nymph & hand out happy loaves to unsuspecting lovely people.

Welcome, Fall, my favorite season. I'm so glad you're finally here!!

UPDATE: Sorry, my little pumpkin lovers. I forgot to attach the recipe. Click HERE for the recipe I got from Lisa's blog at Polka Dot Cottage.

  1. I'd love to see your recipe - I've tried hundreds (ok, maybe dozens), and I always end up with gooey bread, even gooey muffins, no matter how long, or at what temp. I bake them - I love pumpkin bread - I love fall - I want to enjoy the lovely smells - and eat the bread too.

  9. Ooh that pumpkin bread looks so good! In Australia there's not much of a hype about pumpkin pie or anything and hence I'd never had it until last year. But OMG it was divine! I will have to find a recipe and make something! Or are you willing to share your recipe for pumpkin bread? How I love pumpkin and would love to make some!!

  11. Funny thing, I was on a pumpkin hunt myself last week. Could not find any, anywhere. The grocery guy said that there was some contamination at the factory, and the company hadn't shipped the store any canned pumpkin in a month. Hope they resolve the problem, I do like pumpkin pie, pumpkin bread, pumpkin chocolate chip cookies ...

  18. You are so putting me to shame. I totally dropped the ball on the "pumpkin bread for the teachers" thing that I have done every year for the last six years.

I haven't even made my first loaf yet.

Or stocked my freezer full of muffins made from that recipe.

And don't tell anyone, but I'm still using my summer napkins. >gasp!<

    ;-)
