Blog Medicine.

My bestest pal Tia just recently had a freaky thing happen & was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy. The left half of her face doesn't operate as usual & it's kinda bumming her out. It could stay this way for 6 weeks to 6 months. Seeing as I'm 1200 miles away & can't pal around with her & cheer her up, I thought you all could help me out. If you would, please leave a comment giving Tia "get better" messages. Tell a joke. Say hi. (I know you might not know her, but that's ok.) She's a faithful blog reader & I'm certain she'll read every one. Several times.
Thanks for sending happy thoughts to my friend.
Hope your head heals soon Tia!
Nikki

  1. Dear Tia,

Here is my most favorite joke, for you, my dear.

"Two muffins were sitting in an oven, and the first looks over to the second, and says, "man it's really hot in here." The second looks over at the first with a surprised look, and answers, "WHOA! A talking muffin!!!"

    Hehe.

I know I don't know you, or Nikki for that matter, but I know from Nikki's blog that you are both pretty awesome people, and I wish I knew you! :-) Feel better soon girly!

  3. Hello! Tia!

Don't you worry! I am from Canada and one of our COOLEST Prime Minister's ever had Bell's Palsy and it didn't stop him from being totally awesome and doing the coolest things ever and being dashing and amazing and I am sure it wouldn't have stopped him from 1000 jumping photos (if he had thought of them). You seem absolutely lovely and are such a totally awesome friend... we are all here for you! xoxo dana in canada

  5. Hey Tia! With a best friend who always has whimsy *and* love in her name...I think you're in good karma! Now think happy thoughts and know we're all pullin' with you!

A new pastor moved into a town, so he went out one day to visit his parishioners. All went well until he came upon this one house. It was obvious that someone was home, but no one came to the door even after he had knocked several times. Finally he took out his card, wrote on the back "Revelation 3:20" and stuck it on the back of the door. Revelation 3:20: "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will dine with him, and he with me."

Later in the week, as he was counting the offering, he found his card in the collection plate. Below his message was the notation "Genesis 3:10."

Genesis 3:10: "And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked: so I hid myself."

    : O

    Fell better soon! Hugs!

  6. Okay... Okay... So here's my joke...

What did the brown cow say to the brown chicken at the barnyard disco party?

    *think of some funk music*
    "BrownChicken BrownCow!"

Much funnier if you hear it rather than read it... Eh, I tried ;)

Bell's Palsy hit my family not long ago... My Poppy had it twice and recovered shortly after each time. Apparently he uses an electric massager on his face and it seemed to speed up the healing process. Not sure it's a medical fact, but anything is worth a shot! Get well soon, Tia :)

  8. For Tia:

This is the BEST knock-knock joke in the world...

    Knock. Knock.
    Who's there?
    Interrupting cow.
    Interrup-
    MOOOO!

(Really, it's funny- but, perhaps, it's funny in person...)

    Laughter IS the best medicine!

  9. Oh Tia....hang in there. Oops...I didn't mean 'hang'....I meant "lift" in there. Hope things return back to normal soon for you.

Joke: Based on a true Bells Palsy story.

Our friend has Bells Palsy. His has lasted a little longer than average and one day he and his 7 year old son were out at the baseball field. A friend of the dad's approached them and after meeting the son, the friend told the son that he looked JUST like his dad. The son was adament that they didn't look alike at all. When the friend insisted that indeed he did look just like his father the son, very strongly, said to the man, "I don't look anything like him....my face doesn't do this." And he proceeded to make his face crooked with his hands and said...."See."

Out of the mouth of babes....they make us smile and even laugh out loud often, getting us through difficult times.

  12. hi, tia
i'm so sorry i hear your face doesn't listen to your orders. i imagine i'd be pissed off! but, you know, six months isn't that long, and it doesn't have to last for six months at all, and if you have nikki's humour, attidtude and spirit - and i suppose you do, you are bestest friends! - i know you can be as positive as it gets, even mpore, and it always helps. and maybe, just maybe you could see something funny in it. you now, 7 years ago a boat hit me in my face. now i have few false teeth and during teh process i was often without one. i was looking pretty funny but i was laughing at it. you go girl!

Sending prayers for a speedy recovery!!

  16. Tia -
With such great friend(s) I'm sure you'll be feeling better in no time! You are already blessed!

A joke - it's corney but one of my very favorites:
Why did the rag doll cross the road?
Because it was stapled to the chicken. . .

Lame, I know. But, it makes me laugh (the image in my head does anyway)

    Feel better soon!

  17. I am so bad at jokes, but I'll tell you one a fellow blog reader texted me the other day:

Q: How does Lady Gaga order her steaks?

A: raw, raw, raw, raw... ;)

Get it? It's like in her song! That "Bad Romance" song (oh gosh, I hope that's right...)

Anyways! Get better! no matter how bad things seem, remember that they could always be worse.

  18. Hey Nikki! Tell Miss Tia, not to fret too much--it will get better with time. My hubby, an ENT for 25+ years, treats people with Bells Palsy and says that if it is caught early and treated with steroids, it might only last 6-8 weeks. I'm guessing Tia didn't mess around and had an early diagnosis. Of course, everyone is different and only time will tell.
Good news for Tia: if she is suddenly real "_itchy", she can blame it on the meds! If she gains a little weight, she can blame it on the meds! So tell Tia to go to Sonic and eat a chocolate sundae--it always makes me feel better!

  19. In the Spirit of Easter...
Everything I learned in Life I learned from the Easter Bunny!

Don't put all your eggs in one basket

Walk softly and carry a big carrot

Everyone needs a friend who is all ears

There's no such thing as too much candy

All work and no play can make you a basket case

A cute little tail attracts a lot of attention

Everyone is entitled to a bad hare day

Let happy thoughts multiply like rabbits

Some body parts should be floppy

Keep your paws off other people's jellybeans

Good things come in small packages

The grass is always greener in someone else's basket

An Easter bonnet can tame even the wildest hare

To show your true colors you have to come out of your Shell

  20. ha! That Lady Gaga joke was awesome, I'm totally using that in my sophomore history class tomorrow! My friend Meli got Bell's a few years ago during a really stressful time in her life and it went away after a couple of weeks. Here's hoping for a quick recovery, I know this sucks, especially without your best friend there to help.

I teach high school so you'd think I'd have lots of wildly amusing tales of teenage angst, but for some reason my mind is entirely blank. If i think of something, I'll come back. =)

  21. Tia!!! I'm sorry to hear of the bell's palsy diagnosis... a friend of mine was diagnosed with this a couple months ago, and with speedy treatment, most of the symptoms were gone in around 3 weeks!!! So take heart, take your meds and do whatever the doc says and your body will heal. I'll add you to my prayers for a speedy recovery, hun. :)

Q: What did the girl mushroom say to the boy mushroom?

    A: Gee, you're a fun-guy!

Get it? Fungi...!?! That's one of my all time favorite "clean" jokes...feel betters soon!!

  23. Thank you to all my BFF's blog friends...who I've adopted as MY friends too...for all the cheery messages! I've got a whole boat load of awesomely hilarious jokes to keep me laughing for hours...even though it hurts to laugh. haha. I'm gonna keep my chin up (at least the half that still works) and remember that God has a plan for everything that happens in my life! Hang on to the good friends in your life...they are true treasures! (Love ya, Nikki!)

    Take care,

  25. I'm terrible at jokes and the one I do know isn't family friendly so I'll refrain from joking and just say that I hope your healing quickly!

My husband got Bells Palsy a few years back and it was hard and had him down too.

    Hang in Tia!!

  27. My niece contacted it when she was 10, she is almost 30 and is still affected by it. My sister was told that she should have gotten on a round of steroids, that would have knocked it out. Please seek medical attention asap, to lessen and eradicate it. :)

  28. Aww, I'm late in catching up with your blog, but I hope Tia is doing better. I know that has to be scary and uncomfortable. Sending healing vibes her way.
