Summer Break: A Giveaway!

As promised, here is the crafty awesomeness that the girls created yesterday: Glossy Band Bracelets.
We agreed to do a review of the book & we received a free copy in the mail. We had no idea what Glossy Band Bracelets were. But I knew who Klutz was---& I'm a fan of all their awesome creative books & kits---so I knew it'd be quality.

The book is recommended for ages 8 & up, but my almost-6 year old & 7 year old did just fine. Seriously, I read the simple instructions to my girls & they went to crafty town! They did it all themselves. My grown-up fingers were not involved one bit.

The kit comes with 4 colors of non-toxic acrylic gel. Find a pattern that you like in the book, lay a plastic strip (included) over the pattern & squeeze the gel. Then take a toothpick (included) & swirl it around to create fancy designs. Let it dry overnight. Once dry, peel the bracelet off the plastic strip & wrap around your wrist. Your body heat keeps the bracelet attached.
The only thing I'm a little hesitant about is the fact that the bracelets "can permanently bond to or stain other plastic surfaces, & even some paints & wood finishes." So I've set a little ceramic saucer in my girls' rooms that they can lay their bracelets & other jewels in when not wearing them.

Really, the best part was getting to watch the girls' faces light up after they created the bracelets (& rings!). They were so proud of themselves.
Here's what my girls had to say about the book & making the jewelry:
Zoey (7): "It was really fun! I don't know how they found out how to do it. You should try it!"
Pazely (5): "The bracelets were very sticky at first. And we couldn't touch them until the next day. They work pretty good! We're giving away 3 books of these! That's all."
Yep, Pazely's right--- The girls want to give away 3 of these books (retail price: $19.95) to our awesome blog fans!!!! (Provided by the lovely folks at Klutz.) So leave a comment & we'll draw 3 names this Sunday, June 20th!
