Week in Review: September 20-26

It was a happy first week of Fall last week. Still, no fall-like weather though. It's coming. I just know it. But just not this week. It's supposed to be sunny & warm. *sigh* I really want those chilly moments, those sippin' chai latte days, those bundling in blankets & flippin' through a crafty mag on the porch afternoons.

This week is Homecoming & it seems Homecoming is a big deal around here. Maybe it is everywhere. But this is something new to me. There's a bonfire & some kind of snake dance & they burn a big letter "B". All the businesses on Main Street decorate & there's a contest for the best-of-show & even a parade. (Boy, do these small towns like parades!)  And of course the football game & dance.
I'm excited to be initiated into this world of bonfires & burning things & silly dances & hollerin' for the home-team.
Go Bulldogs!

  4. Not just the Midwest - when we lived in Pennsylvania, we often took fall hiking trips in the central part of the state. It was the norm to see Main Street decorations and the like in honor of the local high school football team - and it seemed like the smaller the town, the bigger the fuss! Wouldn't be surprised if this was true all over the country.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment. Every time you do, I do a little happy dance. For reals.
