Week in Review: November 14-20

I feel like last week was jam packed full of "firsts".
First time playing with air dry clay.
First time making cabbage burgers.
First time having egg nog {in forevers}.
First time the Mr. & I had a night apart from the girls since we moved to Nebraska 2 years ago.
First time I've ever kept pheasant feet in my fridge.
First time I ate a Mickey D's pumpkin pie.
First time this chilly season that I've gotten a sniffly-sneezy cold.
First time I've ever won a scarecrow-makin' contest.
First time I've ever eaten a candy cane before Thanksgiving.
(Just to name a few.)

It's so close to Thanksgiving & the fam & I still have no idea of our plans.
I'm really wanting to make a traditional meal with the turkey & all the fixings. (For the first time EVER.) But then I get scared.
But then I get un-scared because I'm pretty sure it'll just be a tiny gathering.
And how hard could that be?
But then there's an afternoon Turkey Day Buffet taking place at a local restaurant & I'm sure that'd be just as tasty. (And stressless & messless.)
And then I keep thinking how the holidays are approaching very quickly. And I just wish I were sitting 'round the table at my mom's house with my sister & brother & grandma & parents & nieces & nephew, enjoying our usual Thanksgiving eats. Mom made the turkey, my sis-in-law made the pies, & all I had to do was fill celery with flavored cheeses.
*sigh*

  2. Dear Crafty Blogger,

I'm launching a new site, "The Crafty Community." I've spoken with a few star crafty bloggers about this, and I've expressed my ideas for starting a community blog that really highlights the best of all crafty blog authors. I've noticed that there are many popular blogs that appeal to mom's; yet, it's hard keeping up with all of them. So, in effort to appeal to the largest target audience, I thought it would be a great idea to start a crafty hub blog containing the best of our collective resources. Hence, the start of "The Crafty Community."

Being that this week is Thanksgiving break for us, I figured I'd look for some cute crafts to do with my own children, Riley and Jacob. I found that though I started with Google, I was left unsatisfied. I needed more creative inspiration... so, I turned to my fellow blog friends. There, I found inspiration. Why not highlight this creativity to a larger audience?

I'm going to first allow priority to my favorite authors, thought I have personally invited a few friends already who I think would be a great addition to our team and enhance the 'crafty genre' we're tapping in to. There won't be any required blogging minimum posts or any regulations. All I ask is that we all have fun and remember our blog obligations: first - your own blog, then... whatever sites you support - such as The Crafty Community. The purpose is to not take away from your own site but rather to support your site and drive additional traffic from an audience you may not have had prior to joining The Crafty Community.

I'm contacting the top crafty bloggers on the web to offer them the first opportunity to join our team. I'd like to start our family with the best! It's simple... cross-post a 'teaser' of your normal blog post to The Crafty Community. Our Crafty Community readers will click your links and this will spread like wildfire!!

Just to give you a bit of insight as to the power of a 'collective blog...' We launched Teaching Blog Addict six months ago. This site is a collection of about 70 top teachers who blog and post also on TBA. Now, TBA is ranked the top teaching blog on the web. Our authors are award winning and like a family. See for yourself: http://www.teachingblogaddict.com/ If you're interested in doing what we did for teachers through TBA but for craft enthusiasts and moms, let me know! I think your blog is great and I'd love to have you join our team.

All you do is simply post a highlight of what you posted on your regular site... linking back to your site. The Crafty Community is like a preview of all the best craft sites that link back to the best author's sites (like yours!).

I just bought the domain name for all of us, too! http://www.craftycommunity.com/ I truly just started this hours ago... I know it will grow BIG TIME in a matter of days!! I look forward to hopefully having you join our team. :)

If you're interested, please contact me as soon as possible for I'll be opening this up to other readers soon and I can only accept a limited number of authors. I'm excited about this new adventure!

    Thanks,
