Movie Review

I recently watched a very "quirky" & l-o-v-e-l-y & funny independent film called Happy Birthday Harris Malden. It was enjoyable in EVERY way! (And it happens to be streaming on Netflix right now.)

"Friends all give loveable and idiosyncratic Harris Malden (Nick Gregorio) special treatment. No one wants to tell him that his large, black drawn-on moustache isn't real. So they go along with the illusion -- until his friend's (Eric M. Levy) date blurts the obvious. Now they must deal with the consequences of Harris's breakdown. Brigitte Hagerman stars as Paul's girlfriend, Susan, in this quirky comedy about unconditional love and acceptance."

And do you want to know something fun? I gave a Twitter shout-out about the movie yesterday & Eric Levy, the guy who co-wrote, co-acted, co-produced, co-directed, etc the movie responded to my tweet!

2 thumbs up, 5 stars & all that jazz!

I ♥ Race Car Grocery Carts.

The kids are contained & I can shop faster.

OH! On Wednesday we took our first family adventure to the movie theater. The girls had NEVER seen a movie on the "big screen". As Zoey (6) walked into the theater, holding her kiddie snack pack ever-so-carefully, she looked around & said, "This is sooooo cooooool!" The 4 year old did great too. She hopped around from dad, to mom to random empty seats nearby, but she stayed awake. Her first reaction to the theater was this: "This is my best day of my life ever!"
UP was fantastic, on both a kiddie & adult level. I have never seen such a heartwarming animation. Even the little animated short--"Partly Cloudy"-- played before the movie was super! We had fun sharing our favorite parts of the movie on the drive home. This picture is from one of my favorite scenes.

(I'm totally going to make those bottlecap badges like the one Carl wears in this photo! Love, love, love 'em!)

Another Great Movie.

Snow Cake. Saw it this weekend. I love, love Alan Rickman. (The first time I remember seeing him in a movie was when I was 16. Remember Robin Hood:Prince of Thieves? I love that movie too. I know, I'm a cornball.)
Anyway, this is a 2006 independent drama about a friendship between an autistic woman (Sigourney Weaver) & a man (Alan Rickman) who is traumatized after a fatal car accident.
I really, really like this movie!

A New Movie to Fave

Last weekend I saw the movie "Once". I LOVED it!! I had never heard of Glen Hansard, but now I'm a fan. He's lovely, as is his costar & collaborator on all the music in the movie, Markéta Irglová. The 2 even won an Acadamy Award in 2008: Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures (Original Song) - "Falling Slowly" from this movie. It's a contemporary musical & filmed with a sort of documentary/real life feel. It's just great. Really great.
