Cardboard Castanets

Got this idea from a book entitled "The Kids Can Press Jumbo Book of Easy Crafts" by Judy Ann Sadler (copyright 2001).
They're so simple to make. You just need cardboard, various buttons, a glue gun & scissors.
Cut the cardboard in strips. The size doesn't matter. Just eyeball it.
Fold the pieces in half.
If your buttons have shanks/loopy things on the back... can remove them with some pliers.
Just hot glue the buttons onto the cardboard, trying to get them to end up even on both sides.
That's it!
Clickety-clack away!
Oh, & here's a lame 12 second castanets concert for you to enjoy. Rock on.

  1. Nikki, What a neat idea, will have to try this with my little one! Thanks for the idea!

  2. BOS (it's sorta like LOL only it stands for big ol smile).
    I just made it up.
    I love your video!

  3. Wow, that is a well loved glue gun.

  4. Randi--HAHA! I know, isn't it grody looking?!

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment. Every time you do, I do a little happy dance. For reals.
