Blind Drawing

I love me some super quick fun easy activities---& this is one of them! All you need is some paper & something to draw with.
First, think of something to draw. Then, close your eyes & draw it!

Now, open your eyes & laugh!!
This activity is almost more fun for those watching you draw. It's funny to see the silly drawings come about in their wacky ways.

My 6 year old drew this pair of scissors. She totally added that little black bit in the center AFTER she opened her eyes. (CHEATER!!)

Here, Pazely concentrates so hard to keep her eyes closed.

Can you guess what she was trying to draw?
A sun!

A bird with a worm by Zoey.
Zoey & I drew a cow. It looks like she even put a bucket under the cow for the milkin'. haha!
I forgot my udders.
I've also done this project at parties, but you put a paper plate on your head (more sturdy) & draw. That way you know there are no cheaters. Plus it looks funny & everyone can get a good laugh.
Another variation of this activity is something I did in a basic drawing class I once took: You can open your eyes, but you have to look only at the object you're drawing (NOT at your paper!) & you can't pick your pencil off the paper.
This activity is one that can take just a few minutes, or you can really stretch it out for an hour or two!

Congrats to CARRIE ME! for winning the Valentine Owlie! Here's what Carrie me! had to say:
"I love everything Valentine's and always do it up BIG time. But, when I was 7 I remember my great aunt came to stay and she and my Mom and I made about 100 sugar cookies that we decorated really elaborately and gave to all the neighbors. I LOVED it, which is what Valentine's is all about right??"

On Monday I'll be revealing my One World One Heart Giveaway prize(S!)!!!
**Sorry I wasn't so timely on announcing the winner. Just woke up a from a nappy nap. I was exhausted from a trip I took over the mountains with my sis yesterday to see my dad again in Seattle. He just had ANOTHER surgery today & is doing well.

And The Winners Are.....

With the help of my lovely assistants, we have drawn a bottlecap & then drawn a name to match seven names to be declared the winners of the seven bottlecaps. Here goes...
1. Newcreationart--red/white/blue popsicle
2. Monica Yvette--cake slice
3. Stabitha--fudgesicle
4. Laura Kelley--chocolate chip cookie
5. Kara--lollipop
6. Bejeweled--pink popsicle
7. Bethany D.--cupcakes
CONGRATULATIONS! I will try & contact each winner for their address, or you can email it to me at whimsy-girl@hotmail.com Thanks everyone for playing! It's fun to see new faces stop by & say hello!!!!

I will be gone the whole weekend! Ugh. I'm missing you already. I'm taking my handy totes filled (rather spilling over) with crafty doo-dads & bits & I'm ready for some road trip creations. The fam will be going to Lewiston,Idaho/Clarkston, Washington (a 2 hour trip I think?) to visit some friends. I've never been, so it should be interesting. Mr. WhiMSy love has already prepared the way for me to have some hunting & scouting time around town to possibly find some nifty thrift spots or creative joints to find some treasures. Hope I come back with SOMETHING!! That would be rad.
This heart pincushion was a treat I found yesterday while antiquing with my mom & niece. It's 9" tall. Rather large for a pincushion, but it is adorable. It would make a cute pillow!
I'll see you all Monday!

Hookie, a Head & Other Random Stuff

I kept the girls home from school today. That's right, we played "hookie". Partly because I forgot to set my alarm. Partly because it snowed all day yesterday & I'm a wimp when it comes to drivin' in that stuff. So, the girls woke up to a massive fort mommy built with chairs & sheets & then after breakfast it was outside for some snowy fun! Zoey made the cutest Barbie snow angel! Pazely had her usual handful of animal toys & chose an elephant to make...well...an elephant angel, of course!

Here's my newest friend. I got him yesterday at Goodwill for a buck. Score for cheap friends! Zoey named him Mr. Harold. I put Mr. WhimSy love's hat on Mr. Harold, so I hope he doesn't mind. During this photo the girls were pelting snowballs at Mr. Harold's head. Shortly after Pazely came from behind with a swinging punch. Why such hatred for the newest member of mommy's "head" collection?

And here's my latest Mini Tag Banner. "Happy St. Patrick's Day"! These banners are hard to photograph. I'll be starting a "Happy Birthday" banner tonight for the same customer.

Oh, and I've been tagged by Jeanetta. Thanks girl. I owe you one. So, here's 5 RANDOM THINGS about me....
1. I love deviled eggs.

2. I am so afraid of roller coasters. I cannot even begin to explain the feeling it gives me to even THINK about riding one. I road Space Mountain at Disney World when I was 7 & then at about 14 I rode a roller coaster at Busch Gardens. Never again. My hubby loves them & I feel bad because it would be a cool thing to do with him.

3. For some reason, I randomly sing sentences out loud. Or, I'll make up stupid rhymes to a beat & sing them over & over to my kids & we'll start dancing & wiggling & being all crazy.

4. (I forget what I've said before in other "Random Things" so if this is a repeat--sorry!)...When I was a kid & teenager I used to get embarrassed so easily! Like, at stupid stuff too. Some stranger would say "Hi!" to me & I'd get embarrassed. But, the embarrassing part was not only would my cheeks get flushed & my ears would burn hot but my ARMS would turn red too! HAHA!

5. I used to play the trumpet as a kid/teenager & I went to an event where you play a piece of music & you get critiqued, etc. & the judge who was critiquing me said that if I wanted to, I could go anywhere & do anything with my trumpeting skills if I kept on with it. (In other words, I was really good.) WAS is the key word. I still have my trumpet, but for some reason I chose not to pursue a career with the trumpet by my side. Oh gosh, it totally sounds like I am bragging. Ugh.

That's all for today folks! Click HERE to leave a comment in last Saturday's post & enter to win one of SEVEN cool dessert themed bottlecaps made by moi! Drawing will be THIS Friday!!

Free Dessert Bottlecaps For YOU!

I was cleaning my art studio the other day & stumbled across these bottlecaps I decorated with a "dessert" theme & made into a bracelet--about a year ago. I never sold my dessert jewelry because the images I originally thought were free to use were actually copyrighted! Bummer. Anyway, here's the good part.....I decided that since I can't SELL them, I can GIVE them away!!!!!!

All you have to do is leave a comment here! On Friday Jan. 11th I'll draw 7 names for the 7 bottlecaps!

The vintage caps have a hole drilled on both sides as a scar from their previous life as a bracelet. They are filled with a liquid resin which dries to a super hard plastic. You can glue a magnet on the back, or slip a split ring through one of the holes & slide it on a keychain ring! Really, you can do WHATEVER you want with it!! YAY for cool free stuff! And thanks for hanging out with me in blogland!
