Littlest Pet Shop Party Invitations

Despite the self-inflicted last-minute-party-planning status I find myself in, I'm quite pleased with the party invitations. I must tell you that the end result happened by mistake. After hassling with the photo, I couldn't seem to keep the really cool polaroid effect that I had created using poladroid.net during the ordering process through Walmart. Not all of the white sides of the polaroid were showing up--just the top & bottom. Don't know why. Wasn't sure how to fix it. Didn't have time to stress about it. Hmph! I sent the photo anyway, over the internet, --by way of 1 hour processing. After picking up the photos, (which were much darker in person than on the computer. I hate that...), I ended up slicing the top & bottom white parts off & was left with the lovely aged-looking photo. First, I cut a white, blank, folded 5"x7" card in half--like a giant postcard. Then, I printed all the party information on one side. After distressing the card with ink, I placed the photo in a way that it sort of resembled a polaroid. A giant oversized version, but still.

If I had textured paper it would have made the invitations even more excellent. But the party is in 5 days. (Shame on me.)

In fact, I've gotta run. The sewing machine is glaring at me. I found THIS excellent video tute online for sewing favor bags.

Party Planning

I am sooooooo far behind on planning Pazely's "Littlest Pet Shop" birthday party, which is the 27th! I have never been this late in sending out invites. Mostly it's cousins & family attending, but I still like to make it official with a proper snail mail invitation.

I played around with some of her toys today & took random photos to use on the invitations. I ran the photos through the super neato polaroid maker at http://poladroid.net/.

You can take a peek at all my Poladroid Pet Shop photos HERE.

I'm sending them to Walmart, via the internet tonight, & will pick them up tomorrow. I'm having a bit of trouble keeping all that wonderful polaroid border when I'm ordering though. Wish I knew how to fix it. ARGH!

Anyway, I'm printing all the pics for thank-you notes but her invites will all have the same photo: Pazely's favorite.

Trademark Shrademark...

I just got back from shopping. For party supplies. Littlest Pet Shop (LPS) party supplies, to be exact. Remember that mission I'm on to try & mix the trademark with the handmade for my soon-to-be 5 year old's birthday party? Well, I've got the "trademark" stuff down REALLY well. I figured I needed a "foundation", ya know? A starting point. So, the tablecloth, napkins, plates, a few party favors, party hats, wrapping paper & dumb party horns that break so easy because the kids slobber all over them have been purchased. Oh, & I each & every package & roll of stickers we bought. Stickers=happy. Now I can go to "Crafty Town" with all my creative ideas. (Which are few at this point.)

I DID purchase some fabric at Walmart though! I'm planning on sewing goodie bags for the kids. I'm bummed that the fabric doesn't have smaller images on it. The animals are around 5"-7" high. I'll make it work.

I had a fun day of purchasing supplies with Pazely--while her sister was in school. We got to hang out together & sip watermelon Italian sodas. She got to pick out things she wanted--the monkey party horns included. At one point during our afternoon of scurrying, she decided she wanted to have a 'My Little Pony' party instead. (Um, no kid--that ain't happenin'!)

Mr. WhiMSy love & I have decided to do her birthday shopping online, to get some more unique LPS items not necessarily found in retail stores around here. So, we have a virtual date tonight. Him, me & Hasbro.

{cupcakes}

Yesterday afternoon I made cupcakes to bring to my littlest one's preschool class. She has a summer birthday, but today is the day she'll celebrate with her friends at school. Pazely LOVES Little Pet Shop toys with a passion! Her birthday, the last day of June, will be in the theme of "Little Pet Shop". I kinda cringe at the thought of planning a party around trademarked characters. Maybe I'm a handmade snob.

I purchased these Little Pet Shop stickers & decided that the girls & I would make some decorations for the cupcakes.
The girls & I cut &/or punched 3 different sized circles, stuck them together with double-sided tape, put the lil' stickers on, & hot glued a bamboo skewer (cut in half) to the back.
The girls had a blast digging through my box of scrap papers & designing each cupcake pick on their own. I was wondering what kind of mess the picks would look like with such a random selection of different colored & patterned papers. But they turned out adorable! The "hodge-podge" look works!

And Pazely was so proud. That's the most important thing!
I'm sure I'll be repeating this project come birthday time in June. Despite the fact that I'd rather make my girls' parties completely handmade, I decided that I would face this party as a challenge. I am really going to try to bring a handmade element to the theme.
Trademark shrademark.
