First Day of School

In the tradition of First-Day-of-School photos, I share with you a scenario you've seen me share in year's past. I'm hoping that I'm not the only one who goes through this. Please, oh please, tell me that your perfect children with their perfect first-day-of-school outfits & perfect first-day-of-school smiles are aliens from another planet?

I now present "First Day of School 2012"...

 Me: Time for the annual First-Day-of-School pictures, girls!

Pazely: Me first!!! Make sure you get a close up of my freckles, too, mom.

Me: And that milk on the corner of your mouth?

Pazely: MOM! Not THAT close!!!

 Me: Ok, Zoey, you're up next!

Me: How about you relax your jaw a bit? Just give me a natural happy look.

Me: *sigh*

 Me: Can I get a close up of you, too, Zoey?

Me: I'll take that as a "NO."

Me: OK! Time for a photo together!!

Me: Just stand a little closer together. And, Zoey, turn off your laser beams.

 Me: Ok, let's try one more time. Please.

 Me: Zoey, remember what she said about her braids. Let's just step away from her hair for a moment.

 Zoey: I will stand here like a rock. You cannot move me. Your pushes are like feathers.

 Me: Please, I beg of you. (*wimpering*)

Back to School

ME: "Ok girls. This is our 'First-Day-of-School' picture! Smile! Look alive!.....Pazely, maybe a little less squinting."

ZOEY: "CHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE......."

ME: "That's better Pazely. But not really. Nevermind. By the way, your socks are all funky. I'm not sure what you were going for, but they're uneven."
ZOEY: "........EEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSE!!!!"

PAZELY: "Mom! Just take the picture!"
ZOEY: "Get the lunchbox in the picture mom! Did you get the lunchbox?"
ME: "Yes, I got the lunchbox Zoey.....OK, how about I get some photos of Zoey by herself first?"

(Pazely stands like a statue. An immovable sculpture. A giant boulder, not about to budge. Stationary.)
ME: "Alright, we'll let Pazely go first."

ME: "Pazely, you're arching your back---just relax your shoulders."

PAZELY: "Mom, do you know how much stuff is IN this backpack?! ...48 pencils, 24 crayons, 18 markers, 3 erasers, 2 giant boxes of kleenex, 2 glue sticks, a bottle of glue, 1 box of Nilla Wafers, 1 package of Chex Mix, a pack of coffee filters & a pair of pointy scissors!"
ME: "Coffee filters? Do the 1st graders drink coffee?"
PAZELY: "Apparantly." 

ME: "OK, it's Zoey's turn for pictures now."

ZOEY: "Step aside Pazely! Exit stage right immediately."

PAZELY: "Warning: Diva has entered the room."

ZOEY: "Pazely! MOVE! You're in the waaaaaay!!!"
(Pazely walks away singing: ♫"I'm too sexy for this backpack... ♫ too sexy for this backpack..."♫)

ZOEY: "Here's my first pose. Casual. Confident. Relaxed & ready for a 2nd grade education...."

ZOEY: "And now I'm giddy. Silly. How about I kick up my right foot in the back & lean over for a little 2nd grade *Squeeee!*"

ZOEY: "And now I'm about to change poses. Still smiling. Still cute. Next I think I'll...."

ZOEY: (**GROWLS!!!!!!!**) "Pazely! You're in my shot! You're head is taking up the whole frame! Get! Out! Of! The! Waaaaaaay!!!! MOM! Make her move! She's ruining EVERYTHING!"

ZOEY: ( **Pouts**)
PAZELY: "I am done with this. I'm going inside to pull up my other sock."

ZOEY: "Hmph!"

ZOEY: (**Quickly flips head toward camera.**) ♫"Cheeeeeeeeeeese!!!"♫

This pose says: Homework? For reals? You wouldn't do that to me would you?

This pose says the same thing. Only on the other side.

This pose oozes: I'm sweet. I'm adorable. And yes, you can give me 2nd's on that cafeteria dessert.

I'm swinging my lunchbox from side to side, I'm swinging, swinging.....

ZOEY: "Get the lunch box mom. K?"
ME: (rolls eyes) "Got it."

ME: "What now, Zoey?"
ZOEY: "I'm smiling while, at the same time, planning my next pose..."

BOTH GIRLS: "One...two...three...First day of school! Yippee"

I Gotta Wear Shades...

I know..... We look hot. There's nothing like random silliness with your friends!

Speaking of "random"....this post is.

This is some bread I just baked for my silly friend. It's "Amish Friendship Bread". I received the starter from my Aunt Cleo on the train trip the girls & I took a week & a half ago.

OK, more randomness. My girls are starting school next week. The youngest will be in a preschool & my oldest is starting Kindergarten. Tuesday is the big day! What am I going to do with myself? Last year I totally had a back-to-school party where I put my feet up on the couch, watched soap operas, sipped tea & chilled out. It was awesome. I may have to relive that moment again. But there may be some tears added to the mix. (sniffle, sniffle....KINDERGARTEN?.....WAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!)

Look what my mom, sis & I got last week while shopping & lunching. These are handmade beaded rings. Mine is the brown one. They are really cool with a stretchy beaded band. Less than 4 bucks too!

Do you want a sneak peek into my weekend plans?.....

I'll be cleaning all weekend. Let me explain. I got my very own crafty computer a few weeks ago & so I had to rearrange my art studio to fit it AND a desk in here. I just kinda dumped stuff here & there to make room. Now I can't find ANYTHING (duh) & I'm tripping over stuff & it's just not fun & pretty anymore. I plan on coming up for air on occasion & working on my oldest daughter's upcoming birthday party. Oooh! It's gonna be so cute! I can't wait to show you all the details!
