A Weekend Away.

Late this afternoon I'll be leaving on a little weekend trip to the Northwest Fine Arts Festival in Everett, WA. I was asked to help chaperone 7 young people & I'm really excited to be going! The students are middle school & high school aged & are part of Skills Development Mission, an organization that "reaches, teaches & empowers under-skilled individuals to become responsible individuals."

I've got 2 camera batteries charged & ready to go. I'm packing a crafty kit to take. (I would seriously feel naked without something crafty to do.) I'm folding the last of my laundry right now & tossing random items in my awesome pink suitcase, hoping some of them happen to match. We'll be sharing cabins & walking to a separate building to shower & potty. Good times.

On anther note, I have had probs with pics on blogger. Anyone else? I couldn't maneuver them. How frustrating. But it seems fixed now.

I also haven't been able to sign onto my Flickr account for a few days. Something with my Yahoo! is messed up? "Customer Care will get back to you within 24 hours." 48 hours later...& nuthin'. Ugh.

Oh, also, this is so random, but I've been asked to do a guest blog spot on a crafty blog, but I'm not sure what to talk about. It sounds like I can talk about whatever I want. But I want it to be something interesting, helpful, useful, entertaining, informative & personal. Some suggestions given were: "an experience with crafting, how you work within a craft budget, how you began crafting, an opinion piece on craft trends...". But I'm not sure any of those "grab" me. Do you have any suggestions? Come on people, inspire me!

The picture up top is of some handmade bubble mailers I made this week. I was in a bind & needed something pronto. I can't find the exact tutorial I learned from, but there are TONS out there. Just google. And be prepared to be overwhelmed with the many versions. Most of them tape the sides. I sewed.

Well, I will miss you all! Have a happy weekend! See you on Monday!

A Weekend Away...

I'll be gone this weekend on an adventure of sorts. My sis & bro & I will be leaving at 5 in the MORNING (?!!!?!) tomorrow on our way to Seattle (a 3 1/2 hour drive on a good weather day) to see our dad, who just had surgery. Cancer sucks & it's definitely taken our family on a little ride. The rollercoaster kind. And I hate rollercoasters.

Despite our reasons for traveling, the 3 of us are very excited about hanging out (without spouses or kids) & just being together. We're all in our 30's now & I can't even remember the last time it was just "us". Maybe never?

The mountain passes have been closed due to weather & avalanche warnings. Thankfully they've opened up & we can squeeze on through.

Thanks so much to all my blog friends, Etsy friends & Twitter friends who've sent prayers & well wishes. It really means a lot to me--& to my family.

And you better believe I'm packing a GIANT bag of crafty things to do. (**To view one of the projects I'll be working on, see & click photo up top**) Although, me + cars usually = sleepy girl. I've always been that way. My sis has already said she's planning on keeping me awake the WHOLE time. But 5 AM??!! Hey, maybe I'll get a random burst of inspiration at that time----a morning hour I rarely see. I doubt it though. I'm pretty sure I'll be in some sort of daze or tired stupor. Or sleeping with my eyes open just to appease my sister.

I'll be back Monday.

Happy Weekend!

It's Friday Already?!

I'm SO loving the new owlies! Hope everyone loves them as much as I do!

Who knew a new coat could make someone feel so special? Yesterday my mom took me for a random shopping trip for a surprise coat. It is so lovely. I've had my old coat since being pregnant with my youngest. Only 4 1/2 years. But still, the connotation that, in essence, it's my "maternity" coat is sorta depressing. And the funny thing is that I had my list of coat qualities that I INSISTED my new coat should have: 1. It should be black 2. It should NOT have a hood 3. It should have a zipper. 4. The length should fall mid-thigh.
Well, I got a coat that was: 1. grey 2. has a hood 3. buttons up 4. is longer than any coat I've owned. Something else that's funny is it's from the J-Lo collection. Yeah, Jenny from the block. I'm all warm & cozy now & need to find someplace to go just so I can show off my sweet prize.

For lunch today we had some visitors. The girls invited many of their fuzzy pals for some plastic food treats while we munched on peanut butter & jelly sandies cut into triangle shapes & cheese fries. I was a little overcrowded. And Mr. Higgins was hogging the tomatoes & lettuce. But I snuck some cake when he wasn't looking, so it's all good. All I know is I am NOT doing their dishes.
I can't believe it's already Friday. This was a weird week. It flew by. The girls start school again next week, so this weekend will be our last hurrah, since being on holiday break, before real life begins again.
Have a great weekend!
