I miss coffee shops filled with books & magazines & cozy plump chairs. I think if I were to ever see one again, I would run inside & twirl around-n-around with my arms open wide, a big goofy grin plastered across my face. And then I'd stake out the coziest & plumpest chair of them all & camp in it all day, with a stack of new crafty books & mags at my side & a yummy coffee drink within easy reach. And I'd make some people mad 'cause I'd be hogging their favorite seat. And if I eventually had to use the potty I'd stick a sign in my chair that said "...Be Back in 5 Minutes."

That's so funny, I can't tell you how much I missed Starbucks when we moved!!!
ReplyDeleteIt passes eventually (after 4, or 5 years)
:( That's gotta be a tough aspect of living in a small town. You should get yourself a big comfy chair & a small side table for your craft room! Some General Foods International Coffee, a big mug and you're all set! :)
ReplyDeleteNow that I think about it, I also missed Walmart, and Michaels, and Olive Garden, and cute little breakfast and lunch places, that actually looked like a health inspector visited them every once in a while! :)
ReplyDelete*sigh*
ReplyDeleteMe too. 'Cept I miss working there too.
Maybe that will be your next BIG project.
ReplyDeleteWhiMSY love Coffee Shop!!!
(if this happens, I'll need a free cup of coffee for coming up with the idea!)
OR, here's a better {easier, at least) idea:
Go and buy yourself a BEAUTIMUS new PLUMPY chair!
best,
Sylvia

ReplyDeletebetcha a million bucks, TCs coffee/book shops miss u too. ;)
Oh this post makes me think of Portland and Seattle. I do enjoy good coffee/book shops. I just found one here and I'm so excited about it!

As yes those would be independent coffee shops and they're a dying breed. We used to have one with poetry readings and music nights. It was quite the hang out in high school and college days. Then the owners retired to FL and some new guy came in a slicked it all up.
ReplyDeleteDang ole small-town Nebraska. . .
ReplyDeleteBe thankful for it now though. I used to wish for the same thing. And, then the coupla small towns around mine started springing up with all kinds of new shopping centers - tearing down the acres and acres of woodlands. I worry about the the animals that were living in those woods and wonder if our conveniences are worth the loss of their homes. Bright side of your longing??
