Kill My Love.

I love the colors of this book, the wacky title & the perfectly textured pages. I wanted to create something special with it. Four-hundred folds later I ended up with this organic "heart" shape...

I'm really pleased with the end result. Usually when I fold these books I have some sort of plan in mind. But this time I decided to let the book take me on a crafty journey. It was one of those projects where I took many twists & turns, becoming exhilarated, unsure, yet hopeful, even frustrated at times through each fold. I intended on heading in a certain direction & was led somewhere else.I took a household census & my 6 year old saw a "heart" right away. I asked my 4-year old, "What does it look like?" She said, "A book!" Mr. WhiMSy love said it looks like a radish & it does remind me of a fox head. Either way, I enjoyed the adventure.

Happy Shipping Day!

Yesterday I shipped 5 pieces of Writing on the Wall book art to the Bellevue Arts Museum for sale in the museum shop!!! I am so excited! It's a big deal to me. I'm thinking I'll have to make a road trip for my birthday in April & totally invade the gift shop with my self portrait silliness.

My 4 year old snapped this shot of me in my art studio working on some book art. So messy. Sorry. If I would've known you were coming I would of straightened up a little. Or at least shoved the messed to the side.
Bye bye little bookies! Find happy homes!

My latest EXCITING news!

This is where I did NOT go yesterday! The crowded parking lot scene doesn't look that bad, only because I grabbed my camera too late as we were passing by the mall. The sea of cars is actually lost behind the OTHER sea of cars. Believe me, there were lots of cars. Hubby & I shopped elsewhere, ate breakfast & realized that we didn't even have as many gifts to purchase as we originally thought. Mostly stocking stuffers, which is my FAVORITE part of every Christmas. I don't care if there's nothing under the tree for me. As long as my stocking is full of goodies!

OH! And whilst shopping, I scored an early present from Mr. WhiMSy love--- a digital photo frame! I'm thinking it will be lots of fun!

Last night some friends came over & brought us treats from Dairy Queen. I know. Doesn't make much sense as the scene outside resembled the Oreo cookie blizzard I was eating. It was yummy anyway! Before my blizzard-bearing guests arrived, I went outside to take some night pictures of my pink tree. Kinda fuzzy, but it's still fun to see the tree from the outside. Oooh, a holiday night light drive MUST be put on the 'to-do' list! It's one of those traditions I've had since being a wee WhiMSy kid.

My little gnome friend is adorable in the snow! He's all chipped & cracked up from being knocked around by the lawnmower this Fall. He may need replacing by next Spring. The picture was dark on my camera, but I lightened it on the computer & I love the speckled effect.

Ok, I'm finally ready to share with you my exciting news. Remember I was telling you that it has to do with my book art?? WELL......Next year my book art, Writing on the Wall, will be featured in the shop of the Bellevue Arts Museum!!! Isn't that so cool? It will coordinate with an altered book exhibit they have planned next year. I may have to take a little road trip...

Today I'll be doing my annual sugar cookie baking & decorating. The girls love it & we make a wonderful mess! Tomorrow I'm almost positive I'll have an extremely long post filled with way too many pictures of frosting & sprinkles! But, you wouldn't have it any other way, right? Right?!

Have a warm & cozy Sunday, my friends!

Books & Gifties

My book art, awesomely titled "Writing on the Wall" has been keeping me a bit busy--which I am SO excited about! I love these pieces & think they are uber cool.

Look what I got recently from my "uber cool" friend, Tia. These are silicone cupcake molds. First of all, I've never used silicone baking accessories before & secondly I've never had a cupcake in the shape of hot, sexy lips. AWESOME! I can't wait to bake some girly-girl cupcakes!!

And look what my mom got me for a sweet little Mother's Day giftie. I've been eyeing these candles at Fred Meyer (of all places?!). They are called "Tiny Temptations" & they are all cupcake scented. The scent I chose is "happy birthday vanilla" & it even has real sprinkles on top! And wowzers! It smells delicious & I can't believe how quickly it made my house smell so yummy. Seriously, when no one is looking I'm gonna lick it. There were 4 other scents: blueberry vanilla, creamy orange frosted, rich creamy chocolate & white buttercream.
Oh, look! I found the online source for purchasing this candle HERE--& they have 4 other scents too. Woohoo! OK. That was my infomercial for the day.

I'll be back later to show what craft I'm "teaching" for my last MOPS (Mothers of PreSchoolers) meeting of the season.

Hello on a Tuesday!

I got gifties! I got gifties!!! Sue, a New Zealand blog buddy at My Home Wellingtontown, sent me some surprise goodies. Just because. Isn't that the best?
This adorable handmade piece was a thrifted find.

And THEN, Sue spoke my language. She sent the cutest cupcake socks & seriously, the most fun cupcake stickers I've ever seen in my whole life. It's so hard to use them when they are so cute. I'm thinking of making up a bunch of giftie tags with some of 'em. Thanks Sue! You rock crafty friend!

And look who's been a busy little worker!! This weekend was my best weekend yet! I partially credit it to my Etsy front page fame & to Mother's Day coming very soon.

At the last minute I realized I didn't have any freebies for my packages, so I came up with vintage button flowers. Each order in the month of May will receive a sweet button flower, complete with felt leaf.

I was able to get some more photos this weekend of my "Writing on the Wall" book art. This one is in the shop.

The girls & I are going to watch Mr. WhiMSy love tonight at his first softball game with the league he just joined. He hasn't done anything like this for years & he said he'll just be happy if he hits the ball. I don't care if he makes a hit or not. I'm just excited to see him in his uniform.
All I can say is.....sizzle.

R.I.P. Old Girl...

My old sewing machine, which wasn't really mine, has passed away. It was born at JCPenney in the fabulous 80's, & though I love the 80's, I needed something new & improved. She was the machine I learned to sew on. But, she had an attitude problem these last few weeks. It was her time to go. (In this picture she holds in her "teeth" the last of my sewing projects that she chewed up.)

I'm now happy to have a new sewing buddy. She's lightweight, she has electronic features, she has a handy slot to insert my favorite picture & she's ALL mine!!! She's sew perfect! (haha! Lame. I know.)

Aaaaaand, I am SUPER excited to announce that my book art has returned to WhiMSy love!!! Vintage books become 3-D art on your walls. They're called "Writing on the Wall", the title they were given while appearing on realmdekor.com. I asked the lovely Lisa at Realm Dekor for permission to "steal" this title & she kindly let me. I just think "Writing on the Wall" sounds so cool!
This particular fold is called "Forever" & it's available in the shop today!

I have created several different folds & I give each shape a name. They make unique, one-of-a-kind gifts.
Oh, I'm working on a really fun project for a customer & I can't wait to share it with you as soon as I fine tune everything!
