Holiday Sneak Peek!!

Only for you, my blog friends!! Here's the 2008 WhiMSy love holiday card! The nifty & super adorable desserts on this card are waiting to give sweet greetings! The ensemble includes: a bundt cake, a frosted & sprinkled sugar cookie, a fruit cake, 2 candy canes, a slice of pumpkin pie, a peppermint candy & a pink frosted Christmas cupcake (a reference to last year's card).

The card can be left blank or I can type this greeting inside. I've got 5"x 7" cards & will soon have notecard sets available for sale later in the week.

And here is this year's ornament. Made from felt, ribbon, vintage fabrics & vintage buttons, these owlies are stuffed with a wee bit of puff to give them a plushie feel. I made two different styles. They're about 3 inches tall. And, they're awful nice & would love to be a part of your holiday decor!

The card & ornaments can be purchased in the shop tomorrow! Thanks for peeking & have a super duper weekend!

Stuff on a Monday

A couple nights ago I was in my art studio, sketching away on my new holiday card design, sipping a hot chai latte, munching on pumpkin pie &.......watching Project Runway!!!! I have been doing SUPER without television, but I thought I'd treat myself to the final 3 episodes on my computer. Here's a peek at a work in progress... I've been painting away with my watercolors & am happy with how it's turning out. A couple more kinks to work out & then it'll be ready for printing! Remember: the big reveal for my annual holiday card & ornament will be Nov. 1st!!

I just heard my girls upstairs playing. They are pretending to be "Red Riding Hood" & "The Big Bad Wolf". So, my 4 year old (who seems to be playing the part of Red Riding Hood from what I can hear), "knocks" on the door to grandma's house--where The Big Bad Wolf (played by her 6 year old sis) is hiding out. The wolf answers the knock with a high-pitched, part granny/part wolf voice, asking: "You wanna piece of meeeeeee????" HAHAHAHA! Is this what "no T.V." has turned them into? If I get gangster-style nursery rhyme productions.....then bring it on!!!! That's awesome.

Just thought I'd stop by for a quick hello! I'm off to prepare my house for a load of lovely people this evening. 13 to be exact!! (In my WEE house too!) Every Monday--starting today--I'll be cooking din-din for a group of guys that belong to a local Teen Challenge center + my family + other friends. And my Etsy shop is fully helping to fund the dinners!! I'm SO excited! Just a casual evening of hanging out, eating yummy food & chillin'. We're having a potato bar. I'm sure there'll be pics in following posts! Those guys won't know what hit 'em when I pull out my camera for a close-up of their potatoes!! HAHA!

Happy Monday!

Presents for me! Presents for me!

Ok, I'll be honest with you. I love Christmas. And one eensy-weensy, itty-bitty reason why is because I LOVE GETTING PRESENTS!!!!!! And look what came in the mail from my bestest friend EVERS, Beck (from Little Daisy Chains). It's a scarflette--or "neck warmer" made by Atelier Iona Loyola. It is absolutely beautiful & wonderful & I love it!! Thank you Beck!!!

And look what my sweet mommy surprised me with today! It's the first cupcake-y thing from my mom! I love it! It fits very well on my tree. Oh, & speaking of tree....Remember how I ordered my pink Christmas tree & I was waiting & waiting & waiting for it to arrive? Well, I was so happy it came yesterday & I love having it all decorated in my house. Guess what arrived at my house today? ANOTHER PINK CHRISTMAS TREE! haha! There was some sort of mistake in shipping & they sent me 2. I only got charged for one tree, but I thought it was hilarious. It's going back to "Pink Trees-ville" tomorrow.

I'm working on my final Christmas gifts. Grandmother is getting a placemat purse that will be extra special with lots of trims & doo-dads. And my brother & sis-in-law are receiving a set of coasters I'm making out of wool felt. I'm punching them with a hole punch & stitching some kind of design that is yet to be determined, so we'll see how it goes...

I'm off to craft! Hope you are enjoying the holiday season!

I Think I Got it Right This Time!

So, those of you who guessed my "mystery" picture a few posts ago were correct---it was a garland! I just listed the Sweet & Shabby Christmas Garland in the shop today! It was very hard to photograph. I had all these visions of taking the perfect picture with the beautiful garland draped on a tree, but that just didn't happen. Hopefully people will get the idea even without a full-length tree shot.

But, my blog friends can at least see my attempt at taking a full tree picture. HAHA! Look at how I just pushed the pumpkin decorations back, plopped the tree on the table & took a picture! (Crazy doll head girl is even looking on!) You can't even see the garland very well.

AND, I completed a cupcake ornament today & I am VERY happy with it! YAY! No more ugly cupcakes! It is simple & sweet. I realized in my original prototype that I love pink & tulle & old buttons & pom-pom trim, BUT it doesn't necessarily look good ALL together. So, I simplified it, kept my vintage buttons & happened to stumble upon some BEAUTIFUL vintage soft yellow crocheted (?? or knitted??) trim in my stash. And that is my next question: I don't knit, crochet, etc. So, would this trim be considered crocheted? Does anyone know? I don't know the difference. The description in my shop says the trim is "crocheted", but I am not certain & wanted to make sure.

I am working on lots more cupcakes, but was TOOOOO excited to wait & list until I had a handful already made. So, this lonely sweet cupcake ornament is in the shop & more of his friends are on the way! Chocolate cupcake anyone??? MMMmmmmm.........
